Native ladybirds ready to release so they can eat up your greenfly & other aphids!
The two-spot ladybird (Adalia bipunctata) is a British native and a natural predator of aphids (greenfly and blackfly). Each ladybird can eat up to 5,000 aphids in its lifetime….and of course may then go on to lay eggs which hatch into larvae which are ALSO voracious predators of aphids! They great thing about them is that they ‘seek and find’ the aphid pests, a sort of aphid-specific guided missile!
No doubt you have ladybirds occurring naturally in your garden, but by introducing more you can dramatically increase the great work that they do…and with no risk to humans, pets or wildlife (except aphids!!)
We can send you your ladybirds between May and August, you can order them as a pre-order , it is anticipated that pre-order dispatch will begin in May, but remember that you should only send off for your ladybirds when you know that they are already about.
You will receive 50 adult ladybirds (NB these will be the native ladybird, NOT the Harlequin ladybirds) packed in a perspex tray. Ladybirds should be released onto infested plants either early in the morning or in late evening.
**We are also able to send out adult ladybirds x25, x100, or ladybird larvae.
**When the time comes we always get these to you as soon as possible after your orders, but during periods of high demand there may be a delay of 7-10 days on occasion**
