If you know that the box tree moth is in your area, this trap can be used to protect your box plants. It works by trapping the box tree moth between the months of April and September (it overwinters as a caterpillar), ensuring that your box plants are protected for a whole season. The trap uses a pheromone lure which attracts and then traps the male moths – without the males present all eggs remain infertile!
To identify the moth, look out for a 4cm wingspan, and most commonly white wings with a brown border, but occasionally the moths are entirely brown.
One trap is used per 200 metres squared, and the trap should be placed close to your box plants and hung at 1.5-2m above the ground.
**We also sell replacement lure! The trap can be re-used the following season with the new lure.
