Vegetable Plants, Vegetable Seeds are on hold!
16 February 2011
Conditions obviously vary a lot up and down the country, but for most of us the soil is very wet and the temperatures scarily variable. Not great for vegetable growing or vegetable seed sowing or vegetable plants in any shape or form.
So don't go by the calendar or advice in magazines or books or on the TV, use your sense and take a look at the soil and the real conditions !
There are plenty of vegetable plants in my greenhouse, but there are also a lot of vegetable seeds that I have not yet sown (despite what it says on the packet!) Sow in a very wet, cold soil and little prospers, most die. So wait!
If you've ordered your vegetable plants from me at 'Grow Your Own with Pippa Greenwood' then don't panic, we will dispatch the onions, potatoes and garlic soon, but the main veg plants will be with you in May, when things really should be better!
Meanwhile, fingers crossed for a rapid improvement!
